Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every new user gets 30 days free with no credit card required. The trial includes 1 campaign, 2 sessions, 5 AI images, and access to features such as:
• Core: Recaps, Campaign Wiki, Timeline, and more
• Insight: Data Studio, Cast Analysis, and more
API access is not included in the trial. API keys are available on paid subscriptions.
Why do we offer this?
A single session gives you immediate value through recaps, searchable notes, and key entity tracking. Archivist becomes even more powerful once you log multiple sessions, unlocking campaign summaries, recurring entity updates, and deeper long term insight.
What are archived campaigns and how do they work?
Archived campaigns are finished or paused campaigns you want to keep without using your active slots. They're fully viewable—session notes, character info, and campaign history stay accessible—but all AI functionality (like summaries, chat, and image generation) is frozen.
Can I archive as many as I want?
Yes! All plans include unlimited archived campaigns at no extra cost.
Can I unarchive a campaign later?
Yes. After a 30-day cooldown period, you can reactivate an archived campaign if you have an open campaign slot on your plan.
What if I need more sessions or an additional campaign?
If your current tier doesn't quite cover your group's ambitions, we offer the following add ons:
- Campaign Pass — $6: Opens one extra active campaign slot for 30 days.
- Extra Session — $2: Grants a full-feature session credit you can use anytime within the next 12 months.
- Text-Only Session Bulk Packs: Ideal for uploading archives of raw notes, transcripts, or play-by-post logs.
Add-on credits apply instantly—no plan change or long-term commitment required.
How do AI images work across campaigns?
AI image allocations are fully transferable across your campaigns. For example, if you're on the Seasoned plan with 3 campaigns and 90 total AI images, one campaign could use all 90 images if needed. Additionally, we allow unlimited uploaded artwork for all plans.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. Changes take effect at the start of your next billing cycle.
What payment methods do you accept?
We use Stripe for checkout, accepting all major credit cards, and selected regional payment methods. All payments are processed securely.
